This classic Chevrolet Impala visits the car wash after decades of exposure to harsh weather conditions and filth.
YouTuber and Classic Car Collector, Silas Manche, hauled out an old Impala from what seemed to be its final resting place, an old field. In a recent video he posted on his channel “Adventures Made From Scratch”, he walked us through the vehicle’s appearance. Manche pointed out features that were still intact and discussed the fate of the rescued mid-size car.
According to him, the 1963 Chevrolet Impala has been out in the field for decades. Seemingly abandoned in 1968, it means, whoever owned it, only used it (or used it up) for 5 years after its third-generation release. Over the years, it accumulated dirt and grime that required $10 worth of soap and rinsing water at the car wash.
This classic Chevrolet Impala receives a much-deserved wash after decades of exposure to harsh weather conditions and filth.

At first, you’d instantly recognize it as a classic Chevy Impala, thanks to its outstanding Chevy Impala badging on its fascia, painted pinstripes, chrome-padded bumpers, and quad round headlamps. It also features dual mirrors, which have likely taken much damage. It also appears to have had a fender-mounted antenna – a very typical feature on the classic Impala. But only the base of the actual antenna is visible. It also has, or rather, had a dual side-outlet exhaust system.
For a car that’s been out in the field (exposed and uncared for), the classic Impala does look the part. There are so many factors that would’ve caused this body deterioration, particularly weather conditions. The vehicle is heavily tarnished, with most parts of the body completely concealed in rust, including the chassis and the wheels. The corrosion took a huge toll on the rear floor and trunk floor, both of which have completely vanished. The interior is also in a state of rickety. The inside is fully covered in dust, with ruined seats and discolored materials, and a ripped-up dashboard.
But there is a bright side. Despite its heavily damaged exterior, the windshield, side, and rear glasses are still intact, with only some minor bubbles forming around the edges. However, a factory AC unit is still housed under the dashboard, along with the steering board. Under the hood, this classic Impala packs a rusted-out Turbo-Fire 283 cubic-inch V8 engine, which has a capable power output of 195 horsepower.
With its whole body covered in dirt and grime, the Impala needed a special car washing session, which ended up costing Silas up to $10 – just for the exterior.

According to Manche, the impala is so badly damaged that it would be impossible to revive. Regardless of the classic Impala’s condition, the YouTuber sold the vehicle in little less than half an hour after he bought it. Instead of trying to revive the old legend, the buyer will likely get some good parts from this car, counting the glasses and the engine. Although at this stage, the engine alone would cost a lot of money to recuperate, especially after being nonoperational for such a long time. Silas implied that he will send the rest of his classic collection (which includes unrepairable units) to the crusher, as he expects to earn money per crushed ton.
